Hello, fellow entrepreneur! Have you been creating authentic social media content?
When your social media growth impacts your financial and professional success, how do you remain true to your values?
How do you keep yourself from copying trends, taking shortcuts, and manipulating people’s consumption habits?
On a similar note – how do you differentiate plagiarism v. purely drawing inspiration from other creators?
The simple answer – have a moral compass.
More specifically, I think you have to examine these questions:
- Do I see my original ideas as valuable?
- Do I feel pressured to attain success within a specific timeline?
- Does [fill in the blank]’s content/marketing strategy actually fit mine?
- Am I okay with failing?
- How attached am I to current trends?
- Do I explicitly credit other people when I share/quote their words, images, and designs?
- How do I put my unique spin on content that inspires me?
The more familiar you are with your answers to these questions, the more likely you are to approach social media content in a way that you’ll be proud of 10 years from now.
Are you happy with the way social media has impacted your creative process? What would you like to stop – or start – doing in 2023?
