I’m not the type to say that only video marketing will work in 2025.

(Although, I do love a well-written video script that gets new leads in the door!)

I’m not convinced there’s a one-size-fits-all approach to attracting your clients or patients.

And I definitely don’t go around preaching, “You must only use XYZ content strategy to reach your next revenue goal.”

Business is different for everyone.

Depending on…

your lifestyle goals

your current practice/business size

your niche

…your marketing strategy HAS to look different from everyone else’s.

With that said, if you are a service-based business owner or you’re a professional service provider, then I highly encourage you to post more video content in 2025. As you share videos of yourself with potential clients, you get to demonstrate the body language and communication style that clients can expect once they start working with you.

At the same time, you have to find exactly the kind of video content creation that matches your goals (regarding money, time at work, and client relationships).

So instead of putting yourself in a box, please keep things adaptable. That’s your one assignment in 2025!

Remember that all video marketing starts with writing down great ideas. Starting right now, I’m making my writing available to you in the most flexible way possible – whatever you need, whenever you need it.

When I say “expand your health and wellness practice,” I don’t mean moving into a bigger office or hiring more staff. I’m talking about increasing your online traffic to build a larger pool of potential clients.

Read This Guide If…

1. You’re happy with the people your health practice is attracting, but you want to maintain a more consistent, predictable roster.

2. You’ve been thinking about growing your client base to not only feel more fulfilled professionally but also to increase your revenue.

Idea I Want to Share With You as a Copywriter for Small Businesses

Bringing in more clients starts with increasing awareness that you exist. It also involves trusting the process – trusting that the right people will engage with your online content over time. Eventually, the content you share will help people realize they need your services or programs to address their health concerns and wellness goals.

Pivotal Question

How do you increase public awareness of your practice or business?

We Could Approach This in Multiple Ways, but I’m Gonna Suggest This Answer

Digital marketing is the key for growing your health and wellness practice. You can create a multi-channel or omni-channel presence depending on your energy and where your target audience spends time online. Alternatively, you can keep it simple by focusing on one platform. Either way, ensure you have these three essential elements:

1. A social media platform – Publicly showcase your health and wellness business.

2. A website – Make sure you write this in your unique brand voice. This provides easy opportunities for visitors to book appointments or take the next appropriate step with your practice.

3. An email list – Create a private channel to engage with your audience.

If This Already Sounds Like a Lot, Don’t Worry

If managing all three elements feels overwhelming, the good news is you don’t have to create new content for each platform. You can repurpose your content, which offers two major benefits:

1. Content repurposing saves time – You don’t have to constantly think of fresh ideas.

2. Content repurposing keeps your messaging consistent – Your leads won’t be confused about your personality, values, or offerings.

Getting Started: Non-Negotiable #1

To make this happen, stay as organized as possible. Write all your content in a Google Doc, rather than jotting ideas down on paper or in your phone’s notes app. Writing inside a social media app or email platform is risky—glitches happen, and you could lose valuable content. Always title your Google Docs according to the key ideas within them to stay organized.

Getting Started: Non-Negotiable #2

Eliminate distractions during content creation. This might mean leaving your phone in another room or putting it on airplane mode. Alternatively, take your laptop to a park and write offline in a Google Doc (like I’m doing right now). Whatever your method, set up an environment that promotes relaxation and clear thinking.

Getting Started: Non-Negotiable #3

Write in a way that leverages your natural strengths. If your ideas flow better when spoken out loud, record yourself talking through a piece of content and type up the key points as you listen back. If writing in full paragraphs feels overwhelming, jot down bullet points in your Google Doc and later convert them into a paragraph.

The Logistics of Writing for Multiple Channels

When repurposing content for your three platforms (social media, website, and email), it’s typically easier to move from long-form writing to short-form. In other words, write a cohesive, personality-filled website first, then break that down into smaller pieces for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, etc. This is usually simpler than stringing together small social media chunks into a five-page website.

The Exception to This Rule

I’ll contradict myself here. If you’re creating a brand voice guidelines (BVG) document, it makes sense to write short-form content first. This is something I do for my clients when they hire me to write a full website. The BVG document contains key marketing messages, organized by length and perspective.

For example, one section of the BVG might have a two- or three-paragraph message written in the first person (using “I” or “we”) to create a personal connection with the reader. Another section might have under-10-word messages that give a quick snapshot of your business’s core offer. Once the BVG is completed, you can copy-and-paste your marketing messages onto your Instagram bio, LinkedIn about section, and other short-form settings.

However, my original point was that you can use the short-form messages within your BVG to create long-form pieces like your entire website homepage, for example.

Now That You Know About BVG, Here’s How You Might Wanna Proceed

1. Write your brand voice guidelines (BVG).

2. Write your five-page website (or write more pages, depending on your needs).

3. Write your social media posts.

4. Write your emails.

(I’ll admit I’m oversimplifying digital marketing with this four-point list.)

How to Write Your Brand Voice Guidelines (BVG)

“It only takes a minute if you wait ‘til the last minute.” Okay, maybe not the best advice if you want to promote your business with care. But if you’ve been struggling with your content creation process, then I have a feeling this guide should help.

A few weeks ago, I set myself up at a cafe only 90 minutes before they closed. I had two client projects to complete, and I knew it was now or never.

Not the time to scroll through Instagram, comparing myself with other marketers or content/copywriters.

Also not the time to second guess these client projects, which were already 75% done.

I did this to/for myself, knowing there would be a sense of urgency.

But what I didn’t know was that the cafe would be playing a fun Beatles playlist! So I got to sing and bop in my chair while writing:

SEO-friendly blog content for a law firm

a lighthearted and personable sales email for a skin spa

Ninety minutes later, I completed my to-do list *and* some.

Adding Deadlines to Your Creative Process

What about you?

What’s the deal with *your* creative process? Been overthinking it? Losing yourself in the social media scroll?

Ever thought about adding deadlines to your process? The point isn’t to feel stressed out of your mind while a blank Canva slide or Google Doc stares back at you.

Instead, deadlines help you realize you *can* produce effective content when:

life gets busy

you don’t have an on-staff marketing person

your business demands 500 things from you

What if deadlines aren’t quite doing the trick? Perhaps this is why your content creation feels like a waste of time:

You’re selling a half-baked product.

It *is* a waste of time.

There is zero urgency in your creative process.

Perfectionism is holding you back.

You rely on single-use content.

Your body and soul aren’t ready to focus.

You’re not using any content templates.

Let’s dive deeper into each factor, along with questions you can ask yourself to actually start enjoying the content creation process.

7 Reasons Your Content Creation Process Feels Like a Waste of Time

Half-Baked Product

Your product or service isn’t clear, valuable, and deliverable. If you’re not able to explain what you’re selling in simple terms — and deliver on your promises — how is your audience supposed to get excited to give you their money?

Ask yourself: “Have I created something people don’t value or understand?”

It *Is* a Waste of Time

Your business model is set up in such a way that only you can complete high-level projects. Therefore, you should be outsourcing your emails, blog posts, and social media posts to a creative studio or marketing agency.

Ask yourself: “What is my behind-the-scenes hourly pay rate, and which tasks are worth less than that rate?”

Zero Urgency

You sit down to create content whenever you feel 100% up for it…which is less often than your business needs. Maybe you track your time, but you’re not using the Pomodoro Method or another simple tool to add urgency to your process.

Ask yourself: “How can I place limits on my creative work sessions without sacrificing quality?”

Perfectionism

Every pixel of your Canva graphic must be perfect, and every word in your IG caption must be written by the angels above…or else all of your professional skills mean NOTHING. How silly does this sound out loud? Super silly. Don’t let this subconscious belief slow you down.

Ask yourself: “At minimum, what must my content achieve to be considered post-able?”

Single-Use Content

If you’re trying to reach potential customers or clients on various platforms (instead of just IG or just TikTok), then start repurposing every piece of content. For example, one blog post can become a reel, a thread, an IG story, and a portion of your email newsletter.

Ask yourself: “How can I turn last month’s top three performing posts into nine more high-quality posts?”

Body & Soul

You just binge watched 30 TikToks about the latest Dateline horror story, and somehow you expect your brain to pump out an inspiring email newsletter about adding more zen to your life in 2023. Not happening.

Ask yourself: “How can I nourish my body, prepare my mind, and set up my environment for optimal creativity?”

Zero Templates

Reinventing the wheel every time you want to advertise your offer gets exhausting. Countless entrepreneurs share their systems and content templates for free…and they actually work! Why not download one and adapt it to your brand’s specific needs?

Ask yourself: “What is one system I can start implementing to make my writing or designing process more templated and repeatable?”

Speaking of templates…

Dude. Super excited for my client, who recently went from a quiet online presence to an endless source of content that attracts her ideal clients!

She came to me 100% confident that her services create a real impact for her clients, but she was confused about how to get more people to her website and fill her schedule more consistently.

Before working with me there were several challenges in her way, regarding her online platforms:

She was paying for a super empty website – no blog posts and barely anything written on her web pages.

She had thousands of people on her email list but wasn’t sure what to send them.

She wasn’t repurposing her content. The bulk of her writing was ending up on 1 social media platform.

All of this was holding her back from having an influx of leads that could turn into repeat clients who love her services so much that they end up telling their friends to book with her, too.

She was ready for a consistent schedule without the stress of creating a bunch of content by herself, so we worked on:

Email copywriting

She started receiving responses from her emails because of how personable and fun they were. She even booked clients she hadn’t seen in about 3 years!

Pinterest copywriting

She’s getting 1,000+ extra impressions each month thanks to pin descriptions that are written with SEO in mind. Plus, her Pin designs are being repurposed to and from IG.

Website copywriting & blogging

We did a major overhaul of her homepage and services pages, which allow her repeat clients to take an interest in new services they haven’t tried before. They also boost organic traffic, so new leads can get on her schedule.

Our work together is providing her with a never-ending source of content that she can repurpose across multiple platforms — all moving her closer to that goal of a full schedule every month.

So, if you’re wondering if it’s possible to:

Re-book clients you haven’t seen in a couple of years — via email

Spend less time producing more content — thanks to repurposing

Continually grow your website traffic — without having to invest more money into paid ads

…YES, it’s possible!

Dear entrepreneur: Connecting with the public doesn’t have to happen on social media.

Here are eight online and offline ways to expand your network and/or connect with your next customer, client, or student.

Business Cards

Hand them out, or pin them to bulletin boards at your local grocery stores and coffee shops.

Website

On your homepage, include keywords related to the needs you are meeting through your products or services.

Guest Blog Posts

Get your voice and name out there. Start by searching Google:“write for us” + your niche. Next, let website owners know you want to add your original writing to their blogs.

Live-In Personal Talks

Invite people to learn new concepts at parks and community centers. Once the event is booked, promote it on Eventbrite and Facebook.

Email List

Send a monthly newsletter with personal stories, professional insights, and important links that will serve your ideal customer or client along their journey.

Merchandise

If physical products aren’t already a part of your business, design bumper stickers, apparel, and accessories that further emphasize your brand’s personality and values.

Digital (Kinda) Merch

Create and share a Spotify playlist that you don’t benefit from, other than the fact that people will remember you the next time they listen to a particular song.

Farmers & Makers Market

This last form of small business networking is one of my favorites. Bring your friendly energy where dozens of small business owners are already gathering. Take off your sales hat. Just be a relaxed and curious shopper who’s open to new opportunities.

I promise you, you can form meaningful connections without spending an entire day on Instagram. What’s your favorite form of small business networking?

As an entrepreneur or small business owner, it’s important to take into account the personal wellness, mindset, and technical elements that help you grow.

When we talk about building a business in the year 2023 and beyond, there’s one key element that no one should ignore: digital marketing. Communicating with your audience through their laptops and phones is essential. How do we do this in a lasting way?

Owning your communication pieces through a self-hosted website gives you the security, versatility, and longevity that social media accounts and company-hosted websites lack. This blog will support you as you optimize your self-hosted website with blog content.

Social media and company-hosted websites lack the longevity of self-hosted websites. Without a self-hosted, search engine optimized (SEO) website, your digital marketing potential is not fully realized.

The practice of publishing blog posts is allowed to feel fun and natural. However, be careful not to do it in a hyper-casual manner. What I mean is you’re not incorporating blogging into your digital marketing strategy just to share what you did last weekend or to get something off your chest.

It’s about positioning your brand – whether it’s a personal brand, like Alicia Keys, or a collective brand, like Apple – in a way that tells potential customers out there why buying your product or service is a good decision. On top of that, you’re clarifying the reasons they should make that decision sooner than later.

Persuading your audience to buy from you becomes simple when you first know your brand inside and out. Then, you can position your brand through strategic blogging. This is how you readily cultivate connections with people who are excited to pay you.
